Sustainability at Blackmore

We’ve been helping businesses reduce their carbon footprint through managing their waste electrical and electronic equipment since 1996. Our operation is designed to maximise the re-use potential of IT assets, and to ensure material recycling is achieved where the equipment cannot be re-used, sending nothing to landfill. We are certified to ISO14001 and work closely with the environment agency.

Our carbon impact

6909 tonnes saved

Of CO2 saved by re-using and recycling IT equipment, which is a saving passed on to our clients. Although we are not yet net zero with our operations, our impact as a company creates a saving of over 6000 tonnes of carbon.

Our emissions

We are based in rural Wiltshire, and our biggest carbon footprint comes from employee commuting. There are no public transport links so we are working to encourage more car sharing and also allow flexible working for our office staff. A few of our staff members also cycle to work and we have one of our dispatch team who walks across the countryside to work.

contribution to a wider impact

Avoided emissions

By recycling and re-using equipment we avoid nearly 7000 tonnes of CO2 entering the atmosphere. This is what we do for our clients, who can use these savings in their journeys to net zero.

efficiency in logistics

Our fleet, logistics & electric charging points

To reduce emissions we plan collections efficiently and if space allows, do multiple collections with the same van in a local area. We also have an electric van in our fleet and two charging points installed in our carpark.

The journey to net zero

We have been working with a carbon consultancy to make a tangible plan to get our operations to net zero. Despite the huge savings of carbons realised from our operations, these are passed to our clients so as we grow we must do more to reduce our own impact.
