Blackmore UK becomes B Corp Certified, recognising 30 years of responsible IT asset management.
Wiltshire’s leading provider of secure IT asset disposal and data destruction has become a Certified B Corporation, marking a significant milestone in the company’s 30-year commitment to responsible business.
After starting the rigorous certification process of becoming certified in September 2025, Blackmore UK now joins a global movement of businesses committed to benefiting people and the planet.
For Blackmore UK, becoming a Certified B Corporation is not a new direction but independent recognition of the principles that have guided the business since it began. The business has made a legal commitment to stakeholder governance and is demonstrating accountability.
B Corp Certified companies are verified as meeting B Lab Standards for social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. It also provides a recognised framework for continuous improvement.
For Blackmore UK’s customers, the B Corp Certification provides added confidence that they are partnering with a business committed to responsible practices, transparency and measurable impact. They can be assured that their data is securely sanitised through ISO 14001 and ISO 27001 Certified processes and handled in full compliance with GDPR. This also helps organisations achieve their ESG and CSR objectives without additional financial outlay, increased safeguarding responsibilities or added operational burden.
Founded in 1996, Blackmore UK has built its reputation on helping organisations securely manage redundant IT equipment by prioritising reuse wherever possible, protecting sensitive data, reducing unnecessary waste and ensuring equipment that cannot be reused is responsibly recycled.
By supplying high-quality refurbished IT equipment instead of new, each year Blackmore UK safely collects and diverts more than 106,000 IT assets from landfill. In 2025, the ADISA Certified Secure IT Disposal Specialist prevented 8,221 tonnes of CO₂ emissions from entering the atmosphere, avoiding emissions 28 times greater than its own operational footprint.
Simon Barfoot, Founder of Blackmore UK said:
“Blackmore UK has never been about simply disposing of IT. Since we started over 30 years ago, we’ve believed that if technology still has value, it should be securely reused. If it can’t be reused, it should be responsibly recycled.
“Becoming a Certified B Corporation is a milestone we’re incredibly proud of because it recognises values that have been part of our business from the very beginning. It’s independent confirmation that doing the right thing for the environment; our customers and our staff isn’t a separate initiative. It’s how we’ve always chosen to operate.
“B Corp also challenges us to keep improving. We know responsible business isn’t a finish line, and we’re committed to continually raising the standard for ourselves, helping organisations securely manage their IT more sustainably and creating positive impact beyond profit.”
