Blackmore UK founder Simon Barfoot cycles from Blackmore to the Black Sea for charity

In 2016 our founder Simon Barfoot cycled 2300 miles solo from Blackmore in Wiltshire to the Black sea in aid of two charities. The first was hope and homes for children – a charity which Blackmore proudly supports.

A 2300 cycle ride wasn’t enough of a challenge either as Simon opted to do it on a scrap bike made in 1995 (the same year the company was founded) which weighed 40kg in total with his gear. This also encompassed a big part of our philosophy here at Blackmore about refurbishment and re-use of older equipment which in this case was a bike. Once the ride was complete Simon donated his bike to a youth club in Ukraine.

Simon raised £2800 in total for charity including hope and homes for children.

Though some days were tough, it was knowing the impact the donations were going to have meeting all the generous people on the way which kept me going!
